Cleaning

A dog bed can become the home of many unwanted and dangerous bacteria and parasites, as well as a source of bad smell. It is also a place which gets dirty very often, e.g. when the dog comes home from a walk and brings sand or mud on the bed. Then we have to clean it, but how?

Should we wash it or not?

What we really know about the possibility to wash the bed is the label sewn into its material. Usually, it tells us how we can clean it. If it can be washed in a washing machine, we will also find out at what temperature it is best to do so. Before putting it in the washing machine, however, we should clean the bed from sand, mud, possible leftover treats or dog hair. In case there are some stains on the fabric, try to hand-wash them before putting them in the washing machine. If it is possible to remove the cover and separate the filling, do it. It may turn out that the filling does not need washing yet and washing the cover itself will help to get rid of dirt and bad smell
