3 Asian dishes you can prepare at home

Asian cuisine is distinct, unique flavors and characteristic aromas. Unfortunately, Eastern dishes are often labor and time consuming. Hardly any modern man has a spare three hours in a day, which he can devote to brewing stock or slow stewing curry. That’s why we present 3 Asian dishes that you will prepare easily and quickly.

Express vegan curry

Curry is the flagship dish of Indian and Thai cuisine. It is simple to prepare but requires, like any Asian dish, a few exotic ingredients, which you can find here: https://www.kuchnieorientu.pl/kuchniatajska/ .

What you will need:

  • 1 red onion,
  • 2 cloves of garlic,
  • 10 g fresh ginger,
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil,
  • 200 g mushy pumpkin,
  • 1 green bell pepper,
  • ½ cup red lentils,
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce,
  • ½ cup vegetable stock or water,
  • 1 can sliced tomatoes,
  • 1 can coconut milk,
  • 1 Tbsp. tomato puree,
  • ½ teaspoon sugar,
  • 1 pak choi cabbage
  • 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
  • 1 teaspoon sweet paprika,
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon,
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric,
  • 1 teaspoon romaine cumin.

Combine the spices together and briefly roast in a dry pan. After a while add the coconut oil and into the slightly heated fat throw in the sliced onion, garlic slices and diced ginger. When onion is glazed add the remaining vegetables and lentils, pour the stock or water and add soy sauce. Cook for about 15 minutes over low heat. After this time add tomatoes, tomato puree and coconut milk and cook for another 15 minutes. After this time add thinly sliced pak choi cabbage and mix

You can eat this curry solo or with rice, a portion is enough for about 4 persons

Sushi

When we think of Asia, Japan immediately comes to mind, and when we think of Japan, it is of course sushi. This speciality is quite expensive in Polish restaurants, and its ingredients may seem too exotic for a typical loin fan. Despite appearances, sushi is not that difficult to make on your own

What you will need

  • 300 g of sushi rice,
  • 3 tablespoons of rice vinegar,
  • 3 tablespoons of water,
  • 1 tsp sugar,
  • ½ teaspoon salt,
  • 5 nori sheets,
  • bamboo mat.

Additions:

  • good quality, fresh fish (if you don’t have access to one, smoked or even canned fish is a safer choice),
  • fresh cucumber,
  • avocado,
  • grilled pineapple,
  • chives,
  • mango,
  • pickled vegetables such as carrots.

Rinse the rice and cook in a ratio of 1 part water to 1 part rice. After cooking, acidify the rice with a mixture of vinegar, water, sugar and salt and stir. Set aside to cool. Place a nori sheet on a bamboo sushi rolling mat and put a layer of cold rice on it. We put the toppings we like best on the rice and wrap the sushi roll using the entire mat. Cut the roll into pieces with a sharp knife and serve with soy sauce, wasabi and pickled ginger. Chinese fried rice with shrimp

This is a very popular Chinese dish, available in many oriental restaurants. If you are craving for Chinese cuisine at home, you can easily prepare this dish for dinner. You can find the hard-to-find ingredients at:https://www.kuchnieorientu.pl/kuchniachinska/.

You will need:

  • 3/4 cup of jasmine rice, cooked the day before,
  • 50 g of smoked ham,
  • 50 g of raw peeled shrimps,
  • 1 egg,
  • 2 soaked shiitake mushroom caps,
  • 50g greens,
  • 1 carrot,
  • 50g pork tenderloin,
  • peanut oil for frying,
  • chives,
  • 100ml chicken stock or vegetable stock ,
  • white pepper.

Prepare and dice the vegetables, meat and prawns. Heat a little oil in the bottom of a frying pan or wok and add the tenderloin. Lightly fry it, add chopped shrimps and fry until they turn pink. Then add the mushrooms, ham, carrots and peas and briefly stir-fry the ingredients. Pour the broth into the pan and bring to a boil. Season with salt and pepper to taste and transfer to a separate bowl. In a separate pan or a well-washed wok, pour a little oil and a beaten egg. After a while the egg will start to curdle, then add the rice and fry for a while until the ingredients are combined. To the fried rice with egg add the set aside ingredients and mix, sprinkle with chives
